What Is The Bridging Programme?
The Bridging Programme provides experienced health and social care workers with additional academic study skills, so that they can access nursing degrees or other higher education opportunities.
Learners will achieve the Level 3 Certificate in Bridging Skills for Higher Education, via the Awarding body OCN.
Who Is The Bridging Programme For?
The Bridging Programme is for individuals who have attained a level 3 vocational qualification or above, who need additional academic study skills for a higher level degree or other qualification.
Note: Any learner who wishes to take part in the bridging programme in order to access university should first email their university of choice to ensure the bridging programme will be accepted. If it is, then it will serve as a bridge to that higher qualification.

Course Content
The Bridging Programme lasts for a duration of 10 weeks, during which learners work towards obtaining the Level 3 certificate in Bridging Skills for Higher Education.
The programme includes 10 remote teaching sessions, with an additional support provided where required. Learners will take part in self-directed study between these teaching sessions.
The Level 3 Certificate in Bridging Skills for Higher Education, which is accredited by the awarding body OCN, consists of five mandatory units. To attain the Certificate, learners must successfully complete these units and earn a total of 16 credits at Level 3 and 8 UCAS points.
Learners will also develop their critical thinking skills, tailored learning practices and methods of reflection and continual improvement.

- Finding and Reading Information Skills for Academic Study
- Understanding Opportunities in Higher Education

The Bridging Plus Programme
The Bridging Plus Programme is an extension of the main bridging programme, with two additional workshops, and has been specifically designed for learners who wish to progress onto a professional education programme where the higher education institution requires prior knowledge of anatomy and physiology, such as allied health degree programmes.
